Workshop Engineer Apprenticeship

The job is a multi-skilled position which includes both electronic and electro mechanical engineering.

The successful applicant will receive initial training on the various instruments and test equipment used. They shall also be required to attend college one day per week to attain an NVQ Level 3 in engineering. Once confident, they shall be required to work on their own initiative to complete work schedules as required.

The candidate will be required to carry out repairs and rebuilds on a wide variety of mechanical vacuum/rough pumps and electro mechanical sub-assemblies. In addition they need the ability to work as part of a team and liaise with other departments accordingly.

They must be hands on and have mechanical engineering skills; it is essential that applicants are self-motivated and have excellent attention to detail. No previous experience with mechanical vacuum/rough pumps and/or scientific instrumentation is necessary as full training will be provided on the various products.

To begin July 2021 and must be local to the Bedfordshire area.

Field Service Engineer – HPLC/GC Laboratory Instrumentation

Full-time

Salary – £22,000 – £35,000 depending on experience

Based in area of Nottingham/ Leicester (East Midlands) M1 Corridor

LC Services Ltd is on the lookout for a Field Service Engineer. The role will involve repair, maintenance, calibration, and final test of scientific instruments at customer’s sites. Experience in the use of chromatography is a good starting place for our role even with no history or engineering or service work. This will largely involve the maintenance of HPLC/GC and MS but also servicing of other analytical instrumentation as required. Traveling across the UK is large part of the role.

The successful candidate will receive a company car in order to travel to on-site laboratories. They will also receive initial side by side onsite training on the various instruments used if required. They shall be required to work on their own initiative, completing on-site maintenance contracts and service breakdowns. Candidates should provide a high level of customer service and use the skills they have acquired to workout faults and fix them efficiently. Must also be organised and confident in using Microsoft Office.

Key skills required:

  • Full and valid UK driving licence.
  • High level of self-motivation.
  • A willingness to travel to various locations and meet customers on a day-to-day basis.
  • Experience in chromatography and/or laboratory equipment sector.

Key skills recommended:

  • Qualification of electro/mechanical engineering or equivalent is highly recommended.
  • Qualification in chemistry.
